alexander i of yugoslavia

The king and dictator of Yugoslavia, Alexander was assassinated by Balkan nationalist militants during a state visit to France in 1934. This was an act that we might today consider “state sponsored terrorism” — the killing of a head of state by a militant group that was supported and directed by a foreign power, in this case the Mussolini’s Italy.

In this episode, host Niall speaks with Dr. Chris Millington, lecturer in Modern French History at Manchester Metropolitan University, about the case.
